How to Create Instagram Story Ads
Instagram Story Ads are full-screen 9:16 ads, that appear between stories in a seamless transition and are marked with a “Sponsored” label. They can include a single images, carousel ads or videos and are a great option to promote your business online.
1. What you need to know
Instagram Stories Ads are different from promoted posts because Stories cannot be promoted directly, but have to be created in the Ad Manager.
When it comes to the content, if you use a single image make sure it is an eye-catching high quality visual with simple powerful text. Users have the option to skip Instagram Stories ads, so the image or video you use in your ad needs to grab viewers’ attention immediately
Facebook recommends that you use an image size of 1080 x 1920 and an aspect ratio of 9:16. Image files can be no larger than 30 MB.
If you prefer to use a video rather than an image use a .MOV, .MP4, or .GIF format up to 4GB in size. You cannot use stand-alone text such as titles, descriptions, messages, and other captions.
Videos can be no longer than 60 seconds and the predefined video setting is 5 seconds.
Recommended resolution; 1080 x 1920
Minimum resolution: 600 x 1067

Next go to the Placement Menu and in the Advanced Options Chose Instagram Stories from the Instagram Options. Unclick all other options if you only want to promote in Instagram Stories.
Set a a budget and when you click next remember to doublecheck that the right account is selected under your Identity.
In the format options you can choose between a Single Image or Video or Carousel Ads. You can easily create your Ad in the Ad Manager directly using the different options from uploading content, to templates, to video editing or by promoting library content and previously posted content.
We recommend to take a bit of time to familiarize with the features in the Ad Manager and to use templates.
The Facebook Ad Manager will show you a preview of you ad, and once you click confirm, your ad will be reviewed and go live if approved.
Keep in mind that Facebook has strict text image requirement for advertising across all its platforms including Instagram. If the proportion text image is too high, the ad reaches a smaller audience. You can check your images using the Facebook text overlay tool.
Once your ad is live, keep an eye on yoir results via the Ad Manager or the dedicated app. Check the ads reach via the impressions and the engagement rate via the clicks. You can interrupt your ad or increase the budget at any time so there is now better time to get started than right now.
