Slow Food Market Rosewood Hotel London
The Rosewood Hotel in Holborn recently launched the first weekly Slow Food and Living Market in London, with over 30 stalls ranging from high quality meat to seafood and beauty products all endorsed by Slow Food UK.
The rain on Sunday did not dampen the spirits of vendors and visitors, and this urban farmers market was buzzing with traders and producers sharing stories while allowing everyone to taste and try their products.
Slow Food is a way of living and all the vendors at the market share the philosophy of good, clean, fair food and products.
Some of the carefully selected traders like Gastronomica, O Shea’s Butchers and Cannon and Cannon are more well-known, while new traders, that are at the beginning of their journey are also present like Sean Gifford, selling his produce grown in the vegetable gardens and beehives located on rooftops in central london, in partnership with inmidtown.
Arganic Oil founder Dana Elemara shared with us her passion of providing the finest Organic Argan Oil available, sourced in South Western Marrocco.
Self-defined brewers of distinction Anspach and Hobday were keen to have us try their excellent and locally brewed beer, while Lalani & Co. showed us the right technique to brewing an exquisite Matcha Tea using the Matcha bamboo whisk. Their products, usually only to be found online or at carefully limited restaurants, hotels and retailers, were excellent, and the tea we tried was like no Matcha Tea we had ever tasted, as was the Matcha-Miso Truffle.
The Tomato stall brings a ray of sunshine into rainy Holborn with a diverse range of over 40 varieties of tomatoes grown on the Isle of Wight. At the end of a successful day however, there were not many tomatoes left.
Wales is also present at the market with Teifi Farmhouse Cheese, which combines creamy Welsh milk and Dutch cheese making expertise that has created the award-winning cheeses that proofed quite popular with visitors. Woodford and Warner manufacture premium Sorrel products using only natural ingredients. They take a lot of pride in their Sorrel drink made with Hibiscus and subtly flavoured with cinnamon and cloves.
Live Native sells raw, vegan and organic skincare. Their products combine nature-intact tropical oils, active minerals and fresh living botanicals, are cold-pressed and feel great and full of nutrients on your skin.
Geoffrey Fisher Design showcases his high quality, sustainable and elegant wood products for house and garden, manufactured on commission in his studio in High Wycombe.
The products combine modern design with the traditional woodworking of the area and show a high standard of production making it the type of design that is much appreciated not only in the UK but also abroad for example in Italy, France or the Nordic Countries.
The aim of newly appointed Head Chef Amandine Chaignot to recreate the traditional marketplace experience was successful and the combination of high quality traders with the visually stunning backdrop of the inner Courtyard of the Rosewood Hotel give the market an unique and vibrant atmosphere and make it a must visit for any Food Lover in the capital.
As creatives for Food and Lifestyle communication, when visiting the market we found the presentation of Slow Food products combined with the elegantly designed stalls very well executed. At only one month old, the market at Rosewood already sets a visual example for urban farmers markets elsewhere.
The Slow Food & Living Market takes place from 10:30 to 3pm every Sunday, at Rosewood London, 252 High Holborn, London WC1
