Cockpit Arts Open Studio – Deptford
The second edition of Spring Open Studios at Cockpit Arts in Deptford followed a week after Holborn. The Deptford Studio is located in the midst of a green and tranquil area of London, that has a community feeling, which is reflected by the light and airy atmosphere of the studios itself.
Compared to the very busy and almost crowded edition the week before in Central London, the Deptford Open Studios were quieter, giving visitors an even better opportunity to observe the creative process and find out about artists/makers and their products.
In conversation with the makers, the feedback about the different kinds of supports from Cockpit was very positive, especially regarding the business and marketing advice given by the social enterprise, an area some have more difficulties to relate to. The mentoring programs and workshops are appreciated by makers at all points in their career.
Cockpit Arts remains, almost 20 years after its start in 1986, a very important institution and provides invaluable support to talented craftspeople in helping them grow their business.
