Cockpit Arts Open Studio – Holborn
The Spring Open Studios at Cockpit Arts in Holborn were part of the inaugural London Craft Week, an event that showcases exceptional craftsmanship across London.
Cockpit Arts is a social enterprise and registered charity, it supports designers and makers since 1986 by providing affordable studio space, mentoring, business advice and more. Their programs are tailored to designer-makers at different stages of their career, who want to become more successful and at the same time develop creatively.
The Holborn Studio is located in a former factory at Cockpit Yard and houses close to a hundred designers/makers. When walking into the studio once quickly gets an understanding of the sense of community and collaborative approach between the makers. While many of the makers share a studio space, they each bring their individual stamp to their space with their tools, materials, inspirations and designs.
The Open Studio is an excellent way to meet talented designers/makers in their environment and to buy and/or commission their work. The atmosphere is buzzing with creativity and talent in a supportive environment, that shows that design and crafts can be a career to aspire to.
